Marion Groves was the eldest of five children, but one of her sisters died aged five.
Marion married Lesley James Weatherburn in 1937 when she was 25 years old in Brentford, Middlesex.
Marion was a hairdresser who worked from their family home in Hounslow, Middlesex.
Later in life Marion and Lesley moved back to Yorkshire where they were both born and lived in Stokesley.
Marion was widowed in 1994 and then moved back to the south to be nearer her family.
Marion and Lesley had one son.

Marion was thirteen when her mother died and as the eldest daughter, she became a carer for her siblings.
Her father remarried when she was twenty two and he died in 1944 aged 66.
She enjoyed seeing her two grandchildren and often baby sat for them when living in Hounslow.
