“Barry was Commodore when we joined Castle Cove in the ’80s and very quickly had me helping at Sunday morning work parties.  He has been part of our Castle Cove life ever since.  When I was Commodore he was my Vice Commodore for a year and his help and advice was invaluable.  Most members will have competed against Barry on the water and many of us had the privilege of crewing for him. When he was desperate for crew for one race he asked me to join him in the Fireball – I don’t think he asked me again though.  However my best memories of Barry are from the Ladies Sailing Christmas parties when he always joined in with the fancy dress and whatever games or tasks guests were set on the night.  This photograph was at the Alice in Wonderland party when guests had to dress one of their team as a flamingo and take part in a game of croquet.  Barry was chosen from his team and I am sure that he was as competitive at playing croquet as he was on the water.  We will miss him dreadfully and our thoughts are with Liz and all his family.”
